If Nigerians Have Access To Justice, There Will Be Peace And Development — Prince Adebayo

A Social Democracy Party (SDP) Presidential Aspirant, Prince Adewale Adebayo, says access to justice was paramount to peace and development of Nigeria. Adebayo disclosed this at a meeting with the delegates of the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL) in Abuja on Tuesday. According to him, the country needed help in ensuring that there was justice for all. Adebayo stated that if it pleased God and the Nigerians to give him the mandate to govern the country, he would work to make Nigeria the most just country in the world. “The ingredients of doing justice starts from those who have access to state authority knowing that it is an agency and you are doing this work for the people. “My measurement of how a country is doing is what happened to the ordinary people. “There is a need to give people a new thought regarding justice. “We need help in our access to justice not because we do not have the best lawyers but because the lowest people in my society do not have access to justice

This opinion does not attempt to mask the fact that in the bulk of our experience with politicians as ordinary Nigerians, it typically feels impossible to internalise the possibility of having a leader who is free of preconceived notions, sentiments and biases, since we are products of our cultural socialisation. However, it would be overly conclusive to dismiss the fact that we can find that person who recognises and acknowledges these human limitations and, has over the yea

Court rejects Governors' application to join Paris Club Refund suit

A federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed the application by the Governors’ Forum seeking to be included as a party to the suit regarding the controversial Paris Club Refund. This newspaper gathered that the federal government is owing some consultants and contractors for services rendered during negotiations for the refund to the tune of $418m. While the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation had approved that the owed sum be paid, the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) headed by Ekiti state Governor, Kayode Fayemi kicked against the decision.
