Nigeria's Population Is A Blessing — SDP Presidential Candidate, Prince Adebayo

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) Presidential Candidate in 2023 general elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo on Wednesday described Nigeria’s population as a huge blessing, if properly invested in, saying it has capacity to boost the Gross Domestic Product per Capita of the country.

Prince Adewole Adebayo made this known during a chat with newsmen on his plans for the country.

In his words: “the Nigerian population is not stretching the resources because we have more than enough resources to cater for the well-being and by extension, the development of the country”.

“A country that has over 15 commercially viable resources scattered across the States can not be poor. The issue is the kind of corruption that is being carried out in the country which is making it difficult to invest in the citizens”. He added

“We cannot as a country use population increase as a reason for the abject poverty that is bedeviling our great nation as the number of thieves in public offices are much more than the population and are wrecking our economy”. He elaborated.

“Corruption has made it almost impossible for us to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), which is the goals put in place by the United Nations to provide adequately for the well-being of every citizen”.

The Ondo state born Politician said that the Nigerian Constitution has already provided a roadmap to our development as the Chapter 2 of the Constitution says every Nigerian must have access to quality education, healthcare housing and a proper participation in the economy.

“If we curb the leakages in government that are caused by corruption, it will be easy to train manpower through skills acquisition which will help improve our Gross Domestic Product per Capita” Prince Adebayo said

The legal luminary who described the average Nigerian as a “profit centre” said free education, provision of quality medical healthcare facilities and adequate training in skills will not only help us a country but will see us export these talents to other countries as expatriates and it will improve our diaspora remittances.
