SDP Presidential Candidate, Prince Adebayo To Churches: Be More Prayerful Than Political

 Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has urged the church to be more prayerful and not to be political.


Prince Adebayo said the outcome of politics will depend on the church because the quality of Christians the church produces is the gateway to getting out of the problems facing Nigeria.


The SDP presidential candidate made these known on Thursday at the Christian Council of Nigeria’s programme of the 31st General Assembly and standing committee, Basilica of St. Andrew Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion Trans Ekulu, Enugu.


Prince Adebayo also encouraged the church to be steadfast irrespective of difficult times, as these times will pass.


He said, “The politics we are facing now, it is not the politics or the outcome of the politics that will save the church, only God can save the church. It is the church that will save politics. Therefore, let us not worry, let us be calm, let us listen to the voice of Christ”.


He further urged the church to be careful, adding that the person who will take the mantle of leadership in 2023 will be from the house of God.


“I will say that the church has one tool, which politics doesn’t have – the church has the ministration of God, the revelation that comes from our clergymen, our leaders”.


While speaking on the theme- ‘Christ’s love compels us’, the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Archbishop Daniel Okoh urged politicians vying for office to look out for the peace and unity of Nigeria, and also pay attention to the vulnerable persons and the needy in the society.


He said, “The church must continue to admonish politicians to demonstrate passion for the wellbeing of all Nigerians. With a great sense of responsibility and accountability, let us continue to be the watch persons to ensure good governance in our nation”.


Presidential candidates and their representatives present at the occasion asides Prince Adebayo were: Ambassador Adiye C Adiye for Accord Party, Barrister Idris Imenomo – NYPP, Mr Peter Obi of Labour party.


Dignitaries present included; the Most Reverend Dr. Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba, Arch Bishop Chukwuma, CAN President, Daniel Okoh, Her Excellency, Lolo Cecelia Ezeilo, the Deputy Governor of Enugu State amongst others.


Prince Adebayo was accompanied by his entourage – Sen. Ugochukwu Uba, Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung (Campaign DG), Godwin Osigbeme .
